Heating and cooling equipment and appliances shall be sized in accordance with ACCA Manual S based on building loads calculated in accordance with ACCA Manual J or other approved heating and cooling calculation methodologies.

Chaper 16, section M1601.1 Duct design.

Duct systems serving heating, cooling and ventilation equipment shall be installed in accordance with the provisions of this section and ACCA Manual D or other approved methods.

Information required prior to starting Manual JS & D:

Fully dimensioned floor plan, showing all floor & ceiling heights. Show all window & door locations. (Paper, CAD or PDF)

Door & window u-values, SHGC, and sizes.

Describe roof framing structure (truss, sloped, flat, joist, or provide roof framing plan. Include R-values for roof / ceiling insulation and type of roofing material.

Provide intended layout for duct runs and where ducts will be in relation to roof / ceiling or soffits (conditioned space).

Please specify preferred equipment manufacturer, model & seer.

Indicate which type of heating / cooling equipment is desired: Split systems, Heat Pumps, standard a/c, resistance heating, gas heating or other.
